Interpreting NASA Satellite Data
Climate Change and its Impact on Life
Symposium to take place at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Guadalajara.
The TEC de Monterrey, Campus Guadalajara is pleased to host the Symposium "Interpreting NASA Satellite Data: Climate Change and its Impact on Life", organized alongside NASA scientists.
The Symposium will allow students to collaborate with scientists, education consultants from the Institute and university professors in an effort to unite their knowledge, technology and methodologies. Not only to improve the student’s math skills and acquire knowledge of other disciplines within the family of exact sciences, but also to be able to apply those skills to real life problems deeming higher level of understanding while developing attitudes, values, and abilities from committed professionals participating in the improvement and innovation of our world.
The event will take place on February 26th, 27th and 28th, 2009, at the TEC de Monterrey, Campus Guadalajara. Participating teams should be formed by three 5th or 6th semester high school students, who will attend lectures and work tables. They will also have the opportunity to solve a PBL (Problem Based Learning), which will require mathematical modeling for its solution. Projects will be evaluated by the NASA Education Group. The top three projects will earn the chance to win the right to go on a field research in order to verify their mathematical model, and carry out activities with qualified scientists. * Travel expenses are not included.
